York Raceway's Run What You've Brung series for those who want to test their skills and power against similar performing cars and you can usually get plenty of track time - with UNLIMITED runs.

If you want to test and tune, sharpen your race craft, Run What You've Brung or just have some fun, all you need is a car, a driving license, a helmet (or borrow one from the track) -and you could be on your way to winning a nitrous oxide kit!

Most RWYBers prefer to run against another car of comparable performance, so that's the way the classes system came about., which cover everything from modern to retro, are below.

Every round in the season has a trophy awarded for each class for the car with lowest ET (i.e. quickest car over the quarter mile). There's also a trophy for the best reaction time (across all the classes), and points for your reaction times are accrued over the season for the tuners shootout Reaction Time Championship. This way it is open to and equal for all, no matter how fast or slow your car is. And, as if that weren't enough, the Championship Winner goes home with a Wizards of Noz nitrous oxide kit -to help you get faster.

  Track time

If you want plenty of track time, turn up early and start early -the track is opens from10am. York has world-class TSI timing equipment that gives you a printout of your reaction time, 60 ft, 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile times and speeds to 1/100mph and 1/1000second.

Getting started

For Run What You've Brung Events, you require your car scrutineering (a 'health and safety check'), sign on at the Tower and your ready to go.

Bring your car, your driving licence and a helmet (some available for loan at the track) and you're in the 2NZ Shootout series at York Raceway. You get a TSI printout for each run, with precision details of your speeds and times and you can view and compare them later on the RESULTS link.

The 2NZ Series has different classes, so cars are pitched against those of similar performance:

D Touring Car To-Ca Over 2000cc, with NO turbo or nitrous
T Super Touring Car Sto-Ca Over 1800cc, with turbo and/or nitrous and all rotary engine cars
X Ultimate 4x4 Car 4Ult All 4-wheel drive cars, including turbo and/or nitrous
R Classic Car Retro All classic cars, where the first of its type was produced prior to 1980
Z Modified Production Z High end, high performance cars capable of 10.5 and quicker, must use an engine block that is an available option for the car or a derivative and mounted in stock location. Must be fitted with a rally style roll cage
Y Run Wot You've Brung (car) RWYB Non road legal cars. Specials, Hill Climb, Rally and Race
YB Run Wot You've Brung (bike) RWYB All motor bikes

N.B. KIT CARS move up a class on engine type due to their advantageous power-to-weight ratio. Diesels move down a class
Club Meets
York Raceway hosts car club meetings at these events, it makes a great venue for an annual or regional meeting and we can run a club shootout for your members.

  • No extra charge on standard admission charges for this service.
  • One Organiser per every 10 Club members pre entered are admitted free
